Hope’s Haven Animal Shelter is committed to keeping our community safe. At this time, that means restricting general admission to our shelter, which will also help our staff and volunteers remain healthy to continue to care for our animals.
ADOPTIONS: We will be conducting adoptions on a case-by-case basis and are not allowing visitors for general animal viewing. If you are interested in adopting, first view our available animals on Hope’s Haven Facebook page. If you feel there is an animal that would be a good fit for your home, please message Hope’s Haven via Facebook or call at: 208-245-7387.
STRAY ANIMALS AND LOST & FOUND: We are not taking in animals. If you have found a stray pet please post on Hope’s Haven Facebook page or call 208-245-7387. If you think your lost pet may be at the shelter, please check our Facebook Page or call 208-245-7387, our staff will return your call as soon as they are able.
PET SURRENDER: At this time, we are not able to accept owner surrendered pets. If you have questions, please call 208-245-7387. Our staff will return your call as soon as they are able.

Benewah Humane Society (BHS) is facing some very real challenges with which we, once again, appeal to citizens of Benewah County for support:
Hope’s Haven needs structural repairs and renovation -- Estimated cost: $25,000 > <
· The foundation in some places is rotting (untreated timbers were used during construction, and the 1996 flood added to the problem).
· Renovations would include expanding the surgical clinic area to use ½ of the garage (to improve sanitation) and enclosing the outside dog area to keep the wind, rain, and snow out.

- The Community Cat Program is a free service to Benewah County residents (as well as some outlying rural areas). Its annual budget is $37,765. It is estimated it will take another six years to get the feral cat population under control. Since the program began in March 2016 there have been 1,202 felines sterilized - that amounts to around 25,000 kittens that will never be born!
- Bottom Line: Over time BHS will see a huge savings in operating costs for the care of kittens!
- Appeals to the Community…
- Grant applications are being submitted, fundraisers are calendared, and our Membership appeal is in progress...
- The Board is looking into finding corporate sponsors in hopes of leveling out the “roller coaster” affect with finances.
