Your help is needed !
Once again, Benewah Humane Society (BHS) is coming to the Community to ask for donations: 2017’s Profit & Loss Statement shows expenses over revenue and the need to make up a deficit of just over $8,000 - ! This is not a first for Humane Society – each time a new program is added to BHS’ scope of service to the Community on behalf of animals, it stretches the budget. Fundraisers are planned, grant applications are in progress, and – if you haven’t sent in your membership application - please do so. Whether it’s the Community Cat Program, the need for new commercial washer and dryer units, the opening of the Red Barn Thrift Store, or an animal needing extensive ($$$) veterinary care to save its life, you – our Community – have stepped in to bolster your Shelter. Your donations are fully tax-deductible! *
*There is a misunderstanding in Benewah County about “tax dollars supporting the Humane Society.”
BHS operates Hope’s Haven Animal Shelter, serving an area of 787 square miles which includes the incorporated cities of Plummer, St. Maries, and Tensed as well as unincorporated communities of Chatcolet, De Smet, Emida, Flat Creek, Fernwood, Parkline, Renfrew, Saint Joe, Santa, and the Coeur d‘Alene Reservation (portions of which are in adjacent counties).
Hope’s Haven is the only shelter in Benewah County, and the responsibility is a heavy one: surrounding counties & cities have between two to ten shelters and/or pet breed-specific rescues.

We want to say "Thank You" to the City of St. Maries for very
generously waiving the water bill for Hope's Haven.
